« Sellersburg Celebrates Sign Up | Main | Thank You »
There has been information circulating today that involves the football group and the band group. Rick Durham and Roger Harshey have worked feverisly with the new football coach and Mr. Bailey and Mr. Crabtree to come up with a win-win solution for everyone.
It was learned that the football group was suppose to have told Mr. Bailey that the director's tower needed to come down for an upcoming football game AND that the band wouldn't be able to use the field anymore.
Everyone mentioned above, including Mr. Hoover, discussed the situation and was able to work out a solution!
The football coach explained to Roger Harshey that he WANTS to work with the band. He in no way wants to do anything that would alienate the two groups.
His concern towards the director's tower was one of safety. He thought that it may be too close and a kid would end up running into it. In fact, Roger said that he inquired about using it so that they could video tape the football games to help improve Sellersburg's team. Roger said that he also realized that space was limited for the band to practice and had every intention of sharing the practice field with the band.
A solution has been worked out between Mr. Hoover and the football coach. The band and football team will use a rotating schedule in order to use the practice field for practice.
The director's tower can remain where it is at, but we need to move it back a few feet. Tomorrow evening at 7:30p up at the practice field, we would like to have some able bodied individuals help us move the tower back. This should not take any longer than a half hour. Roger is going to bring some floor jacks so that the stand can be raised enough for all to push it back.
Everyone is very satisfied with how the negotiations were handled so that everyone was a winner. It is appreciated that some of you expressed your concern and brought it to our school officials attention. It is nice to see parents be concerned and passionate about things their children are involved with. It lets our school officials know that our Booster group is very much alive and supporting the program.
