« Congratulations Amanda and Brandon | Main | Cool Spring Concert Band Video »
The sweltering heat inside the gymnasium could have confused attendees at the Silver Creek Middle and High School Band Spring Concert, but the freshness and lively tempo of the songs played was very much in accord with the concert title.
Band Director Larry Hoover conducted each Middle and High School Band so each note rose high in the gym and unfolded into a vibrant song that paralleled the sounds that Spring time offers.
Spring is associated with romance. Dane Sauffer and Aaron Alexander's solo during the High School Jazz Band selection of Roger Holmes' "When I Fall in Love" produced a brilliant tone that made one's heart dance.
The Marimba's buzzed to life as Ashley Parker played Rimskey-Korsadov's "Flight of the Bumble Bee."
All the band's came together at the end to play a special arrangement of "American the Beautiful." Mr. Hoover and Ashley Parker conducted the piece that was so admirable that it captured the patriotism in the hearts of those there.
Mr. Hoover recognized several students during the concert for their accomplishments during the year. Congratulations to the following:

Band Booster President Rick Durham presented Mr. Hoover with a gift to honor an eighteen year veteran of marching band. The veteran recognized was the retired band uniform that was recently replaced. A shadow box with pieces of the old uniform were eloquently placed to help those who wore the uniform to recall the great times in marching band, and to pay tribute to such a admirable icon. President Durham thanked Lori Gator and Linda Durham for putting the box together.
